BBC encourages schoolchildren to drink champagne


With all this fuss about under age drinking, how can we blame the youths of today? Especially, given that BBC1 Look North News tonight showed school children celebrating their A Level passes with opening and drinking from a bottle of champagne!

Or, was it the Beeb up to its old tricks again creating an impression and it was really non alcoholic drink?

    You take your A Levels aged 18, the legal drinking age. Drinking champagne on a special occasion, is unlikely to amount to irresponsible drinking.

  3. 18 or 19 for most A Level students. About 4% of the current crop will be 17 ... for one or two weeks more. In any case neither 16 nor 18 has any significance for private drinking ...
