A bull behind bars
A Serbian court has ruled that a farmer should be allowed to take his bull to jail with him.
Hamdija Djuric had been sentenced to a year in jail for hitting another man in a pub brawl. However, the fifty-four year old farmer was so worried about what would happen to his prize bull whilst he was in prison that he appealed to the courts to imprison the bull as well.
The bull, who is called Micko, weighs so much that he has had to have a reinforced cell created on the ground floor.
Micko will be imprisoned for as long as his owner. So long as they both behave themselves the pair could be back to tilling the fields by Christmas.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, I tried to get an E-petition set up to free Micko the bull and it was rejected by the Downing Street team...

Your petition reads:
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to: 'Intervene
with Serbia to free the Bull named Micko jailed for one year.'
Micko the bull has been jailed by a Serbian court to a year's
imprisonment, and yet the bull is innocent of any criminal
charge.
Micko is no ordinary bull, he is a prize winning bull. The poor
bull is undergoing the pains of confinement because his owner,
a farmer, was convicted of assault and was concerned what would
happen to his bull whilst he was in custody. Therefore, he
appealed to the judge to send his bull to prison as well.
Micko the bull deserves justice. He should be freed
immediately.

I really just don't know what the town of Barnsley is coming to these days. I am just so out of touch...
