Exclusive: Richard Branson to pay McCanns legal fees

Exclusive: Richard Branson to pay McCanns legal fees

Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson, perhaps best known for his failed balloon flying attempts, has agreed to pay for the McCanns legal fees in their attempt to clear their names in the disappearance of Madeleine.

It might be remembered that Gerry McCann announced 2 weeks prior to Madeleine having been missing for 50 days, that he intended to mark the 50th day by releasing 50 balloons. The question is, how did he know so far in advance that she would still be missing on the 50th day unless he had some involvement in Madeleine's disappearance? To date, Gerry McCann has not answered this question. Surely, he should?

As for Richard Branson, he obviously has more money than sense.

"Sir Richard Branson said: "Whether or not I have decided to put up funds to help the McCanns' legal case is not a subject I wish to discuss publicly.

"In the midst of all of this speculation and rumour, we must remember a little girl is still missing
".

I take it that's a yes, then?

  1. Maybe Richard thinks that Madeleine is with Steve Fossett. What is it with him and missing people or is it just to keep himself in the public eye?

  2. "how did he know so far in advance that she would still be missing on the 50th day"?

He didn't - he was just explaining his plans if she was. Your readiness to read hidden meanings into everything explains your susceptibility to all this 'they're guilty' nonsense.

Cassilis: if my daughter was 'abducted', I would have spent all my energy, all my thinking in finding her. I would also have been truthful and honest with the police. I've had personal experience of someone going missing and we knew that those first few hours were EXTREMELY important.
The McCanns, on the other hand, wasted time in calling the police and wasted police time with their lies.

    You are absolutely disgusting.
You hear a little bit of speculation and fall into the trap of beleiving this nonsense. The portugese police have done a terrible job and have no idea where little maddie is so in their desperation not to look incompetent they lay the blame on two innocent people who have already been through hell. It's terrible. There is no way they had any involvement in their daughter's disappearence. Thankgod some people like Richard Branson do have sense. This is the biggest miscarriage of justice in modern history. I pray for the McCann's sake this particular part of the nightmare will soon be over so they can focus on finding their little girl.

I am very disappointed in Richard Branson. He is giving money for the defence of two people who are about to be accused of murdering their own 4 year old child.

If they are found guilty, what then does the population think of Branson? He has already dropped a mile in my estimation.

Kate and Gerry McCann have played us all. Now they are playing Branson.

Richard, I am no longer your fan!

Well I will no longer use virgin products if the company and Branson are supporting 2 people that neglected their 3 children by leaving them alone whilst they went socializing, regardless if they had anything to do with Maddies dissaperence/murder they are guilty or neglect.

Its entirely Richard Branson's choice whether he puts money towards the McCanns defence (and good on him, I say) and I think the person who said they wouldn't buy/use virgin products/services is in the minority and it obviously won't make a difference to the McCanns or Branson.
People are analysing what the McCanns say and do far too closely-its riduculous to say Gerry was involved with her disappearance because he said what they'd do to mark her 50 days missing!!
Leave the conspiracy theorys to the Portugese police, they are obviously good at coming up with tall stories!!

Anon 1207PM Many people on the net and every one I have spoken to about this case feel some emotion for Madeleine. Many people are praying for her. However, we also question the actions, the inapropriate comments and behaviour of the 'parents'. I personally feel very sorry that Madeleine had the parents she had. I hope, I sincerely hope that my gut reactions to these parents are proved to be wrong.
