McCanns: Have the twins been taken into care?
Following the social services visit to the McCanns, this morning a three car convoy left the McCanns house. In the first car were Gerry and Kate McCann, and in the second car their 2 year old twins, and in the third car the twins clothes and toys. I cannot help wondering if this signifies that the McCanns have been required to hand over the care of the twins to relatives or the social services?
Oh I do hope so.
ReplyDelete"I cannot help wondering if this signifies that the McCanns have been required to hand over the care of the twins to relatives or the social services?"
ReplyDeleteI bet you can't.
I just don't see how a Social Services can avoid placing them on the 'at risk' register: they have bee formally suspected of responsibility for the death of a sibling! And while the specific evidence of the case may not be available to social services from the Portugese police, the panel making that decision would have input from the UK police who revuiewed the case; we can assume they would have to say they were satisfied that the investigation had been conducted in a professional manner because the Home Secretary is unlikely to have uttered so unambiguously if there were significant reservations from UK police.
ReplyDeleteAnd given what happens to social workers who get these decisions wrong... Can you imagine the hue and cry if - God forbid - anything happened to one of them and they were not on the 'at risk' register
Beyond that what supervision is put in place, whether they are taken into care, whether they need to be removed to a place of safety etc is a matter for case-by-case consideration. And may of course change as/if matters progress.
"Today the McCanns were driven from their home in Rothley, Leicestershire, for talks with their lawyer at a secret location.
ReplyDeleteThey left in a silver BMW driven by solicitor Angus McBride. Mrs McCann's parents Brian and Susan Healy followed in another car.
Immediately afterwards Gerry's sister Trish Cameron drove the couple's two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie away."
Damn and I thought we had them!

Please let me publish my opinion. I just feel sorry for the McCanns I dont believe they have anything to do with their daughters disappearance, they are victims of a very bad portugues policeforce and they are desperate of finding a solution. The British press should feel ashamed of what they have written about this issue. Tomas in Stockholm, Sweden.
ReplyDeleteSee Tomas, what you just said really irks me. You are, as am I entitled to think whatever you want about the case. You can speculate about what happened, and in your case you have come to the conclusions that the McCanns haven't done anything. That is all absolutely fine.
ReplyDeleteBut I am sick and tired of the pro-McCann lobby, including many in the press, saying those thinking the other way should be 'ashamed' and things like that. Richard Madely said on TV that people who thought the McCanns were responsible for Maddy's disapperance/death were expressing "disgusting opinions" and "have no right to say such things".
So I presume that if/when Gerry and Kate are convicted of something, Richard will be making a public apology to all those he slandered live on air, and then apologise further for endorsing child killers on his show?
