Who's leading from way back home?

Whilst the newspapers are reporting that

Prince Harry leads tributes at Diana memorial

I can't help but wonder why the Home Guard Cornet Wales is not instead leading his troops in Iraq?

  1. Because that story you have linked to is from February and the Army decided in May that they weren't going to send him.

  2. I know, but if you join up you have to fight if there is a war on. I think it has set a dangerous precedent.

  3. No, if you sign up you have to obey orders, important difference. I do honestly believe that he wanted to follow in the tradition of his grandfather and uncle and see active service and that the troops wanted him to go (as demonstrated by the "I'm Harry" t-shirts). It was the Chief of the General Staff himself that made the decision that he wasn't going. I think this has far more to say about the cluster-fuck that is the Iraq war than it does about Harry.

  4. Tony we were told that he would not be treated any differently than any other soldier. I have not heard the Chief of General Staff tell anybody else they cannot go because it is too dangerous.

I disagree with the Iraq war. And, I am not a Royalist. I would feel more disposed towards them if they lived in a council house on a estate...

No, JHL, you are wrong. George Bush is a dangerous precedent.

(I'm not sure I spelled that right...)
