A Home Office minister today pleaded guilty to using a mobile phone while driving.
Immigration minister Liam Byrne told Sutton Coldfield magistrates' court in a letter that he was taking an important call on a deportation matter at the time of the offence.
Mr Byrne, 37, the Labour MP for Birmingham Hodge Hill and a former police minister, was fined £100 with £35 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. He was also given three points on his licence.
"The Home Office is responsible for the law and its ministers should be well aware of it and set the correct example".
I suppose at the same time he was juggling the files concerning the important deportation matter on his lap as he was driving.
ReplyDeleteSurely another case of a NuLabor minister making important decisions as he goes along.
How many people still drive using a mobile phone?
ReplyDeleteYes I thought so. Just about everyone.
Look I know there are times when people should concentrate on the driving instead of having a lengthy conflab whilst going around a-round-about!
But come on, have you ever been to ASDA's on a friday evening. Most of those idiots should never have been allowed to drive in the first place.
Next they will ban the car radio or CD player. Why not passengers?
Hell just ban the car!
Close the roads and lets all walk.
Why stop there! Ban the aircraft, ship and any other form of travel. My Mobile phone how can they take it away from me!!!
Thank god I can have a fag while im driving....Oh no.....have they stopped that too?
Just a thought. Which is worse for the ozone? The Fag, the Mobile or the car?
I bet 75 percent of people who own a mobile and can drive are guilty. Its because its a stupid law!
How many deaths on the road are caused by dangerous driving(going too fast, not looking what your doing, being a tit, impressing the bird next to you) drunk driving(pissed) drug driving (stoned) Having a smoke (not previous) Talking on the mobile (basically driving with one hand, which if you have an automatic isn't so hard or really hard if you have one arm)
Its not about NuLabor. Its about ways of making money!!!!!!! and whoever is in power they would agree too.
