Peter Tobin attacked in prison

Peter Tobin attacked in prison

"Peter Tobin, the man charged with murdering Scottish schoolgirl Vicky Hamilton, has been attacked in prison.

The 61-year-old was taken to hospital yesterday with cuts and bruises after he was set upon in Edinburgh's Saughton jail by fellow inmates.

A Scottish Prison Service spokesman would only confirm that an incident took place at Saughton jail and that a prisoner has been taken to hospital".

One has to wonder why guards are paid to guard and yet they failed to guard against this?

  2. I don't feel sorry for him, either, but he is like a sitting duck and prisoners shouldn't have to be continually terrorised by the possibility of prison officers turning a blind eye while someone puts the boot in. Maybe the officers should be more accountable when a prisoner gets assaulted on their shift on their landing. It might be difficult for anyone to prove which attacks have been 'allowed' and which were unpreventable but where it's obvious that a prisoner is going to be vulnerable whenever he associates with other prisoners then he should be properly protected and if he can't be protected, then he shouldn't be exposed to the risk.
