Police spend £40m on 'spin doctors'
"Police forces are spending £40 million a year on press officers, it emerged yesterday, which could pay for 1,400 extra constables on the beat".
And what is the message that is worth £40M? This, the country: "not only is safer, but feels safer, too".
The problem with that is it would not only feel safer but be safer if there was 1,400 more bobbies on the beat.
