Swans nesting
It's a beautiful day in May and Rocky and I went for a walk to the large park at the end of Beresford Avenue off Beverley road (A1079). I noticed that the swans had built their nest and Mrs Swan was sat on 10 eggs. I decided to shoot this video but I did not expect it to come out as well as it did because I could not see the mobile phone screen for the brightness of the sun.
It turned out pretty well.
ReplyDeletePlus, I can now put a voice to the face.
PS I lived in Poland for many years and never once ate swan.
Quite a saga - does Rocky have a similar accent? :)
ReplyDeletemerkin: Better than I expected. Just because I could not see the image on the screen I thought the camera would not capture so well facing the sun. You could have heard my voice on some of my other YouTubes. I should hope not! Protected species and all that.
ReplyDeleteJames: Rocky's bark is worse than his bite, with me my bite is worse than my bark.
John.
ReplyDeleteRocky understands commands such as sit, stay, wait, leave etc.
Rocky does NOT understand reasoned arguments such as "leave the Swans alone or they will peck your bollocks off and break all four of your legs"
Are you serious that local yobs will try and trash the Swan's eggs?
anonymous: I realise Rocky will not understand everything I tell him, still...
ReplyDeleteYes, they have done it before both with this pair and the pair that I have seen nest down the Beverley and Barnstorm Drain at the back of my house.
If the dangerous dog case is still ongoing, this is surely proof that your dog was under control in unusual circumstances? The "Rocky, No!" seemed to work best although I find most dogs respond to "Oi!" which I suspect is the closest a person can get to a warning bark.
ReplyDeletepoons: The case is still on going and I have to appear on the 9th of June. As you say, it is good evidence of control. Sometimes I use "Oi!", and other quick, short, sharp, warnings to get his attention. We have a good relationship. I only tend to keep him on a lead on busy main roads for his own safety.
