Terror concessions being planned

Terror concessions being planned

"The government is preparing to offer Labour MPs a major concession to avoid losing a vote on terror detentions, the BBC has learned.

Ministers want to extend the limit suspects can be held without charge to 42 days, which many Labour MPs oppose.

To avoid losing a Commons vote, the government is to suggest halving the period during which police can enact these extra powers from 60 to 30 days
".

As Gordon Brown and Jacqui Smith sing never going to give you up, I say No Deal.

  1. Hopefully now that the NuLabor induced coma has worn off true Labour MPs will see this for what it really is - a piece of blatant politicing from our glorious unelected Leader.

  2. No chance, Barnacle Bill.
The phrase 'exceptional circumstances' springs to mind. As usual the Government will say it means one thing and then in fact will use it to mean something else.
For example, from my own blog,

Who would you trust to keep you safe, barnacle bill, merkin or the Government ? I'll go with the Government every time, you see I know in times of trouble bill and merkin would be the first to shout help.
