Ironed Sardine instead of a can of worms

Ironed Sardine instead of a can of worms

Now and again I will link to Dizzy Thinks, usually to slag him off, occasionally, like Bob Piper, if Dizzy Thinks posts something too good not to cross Left/Right lines, then credit where credit is due, I will praise him.

Tonight Dizzy Thinks has posted about Ironed Sardine. As it concerns me I have linked to it. Tim Ireland and Unity have blogged about Honest John. And, the Director General of the Prison Service, Phil Wheatley, has said that I am too honest for my own good. I don't believe that somebody can be too honest. However, I understand what he means. There is a view that sometimes it may be better to say nothing. In any event, that is not in my nature. Even if what I say may not be deemed as appropriate by some.

I jumped on a bandwagon rolling against Nadine Dorries, not because I had anything against her. I was simply toying with her name and came up with the anagram of her name which read Ironed Sardine. I then set up a blog and posted comments on blogs where she was the subject of discussion, expecting the Right to get up in arms about it. But instead, the Left got upset. Therefore, I pulled the blog and thought no more about it until today when I read Tim Ireland's post which I felt suggested that Phil Hendren who blogs as Dizzy Thinks was the culprit. And Tim appeared to be expecting a response from Phil Hendren. So I thought it was time to come clean and let Phil Hendren know that I knew he was innocent, and the reason why I knew it.

I will now don my WW2 Air Raid Warden helmet to soften the worst of the expected flak.

  2. White Rabbit: I thought so too. I don't think a lot got it. And that was all it was really about the funny name change.

We have all made comments, said something, or posted something that we later realise wasn't taken in the way intended. What is important is stepping up if someone else is being blamed for your own comments.

    You've done that, well done.

  8. the morningstar: We all make mistakes, not just in the blogosphere, and your being in the Army you would appreciate somebody in the ranks stepping forward rather than let somebody else take the blame.

I must admit I did not consider how Tim Ireland might react to my admission. Having said that, I think seeing him with egg on his face is a small price to pay for me keeping my integrity.

His flintlock pistol backfired. He has only wounded himself. I would have preferred it if he had apologised to Dizzy Thinks. However, I am not impressed with the 'well he's been guilty of other things therefore I won't apologise' stance. In my experience being accused of something one has not done is a grave injustice.

I expected more fallout to land at my door. However, the majority of comments on the other blogs believe I did the right thing. When it comes to honour, we are truly a Band of Brothers.

    Thanks.

  9. Credit where it is due for revealing the truth John. Well done on putting an end to the unjustified insinuations of that sanctimonious fool.

  10. Tony Sharp: Thanks for your comment. I am somewhat surprised at the deafening silence from the Left Wing blogs. Tim is calling it a PR failure. I see more as wipe your face and move on.

I see it as an elementary failure of courtesy on your part.

Why did you not tell both of them & prove you're as non aligned as you profess to be?

    ReplyDelete
  12. anonymous: The elementary failure on your part is to recognise that the devil of this piece is Tim Ireland. I have shamed the devil. He has admitted he was wrong, but then adds insult to injury by failing to apologise.

I don't know where you get the idea I need to tell both of them, nor that I need to prove anything especially my non-aligned status.

    Time to move on.

    Not at all.

Your elementary failure is one of courtsey, you actions have proved that you are not as independent as you would like the blogging world to beleived; & in doing that, though you may be rejoiciong in the faint praise coming from your new right wing friends, you have damned any credibility you may have had anywhere else.

Then resorting to high flow, legalistic or moralistic pronouncements still doesn't prove you to be right, it shows you trying to hide behind a smokescreen of sophistries & half truths.

A simple man can be fooled by anyone, but the greatest tragedy is when an intelligent man is quite obviously fooling himself as you are.

I wish you luck of your actions, on the right you may be known as an honest man, on the left you seem a bit of a fool frankly.

  14. anonymous: The only one here who has lost any credibility is Tim Ireland. He pointed the finger at the wrong person and was unable to substantiate it. He then lost some more with his failure to apologise to the injured party.

Actually, it was the Left which recognised my honesty first and the Right was slower to recognise it.

Why are you hiding behind anonymous?

"He then lost some more with his failure to apologise to the injured party."

To be honest though, given that Phil phoned Tim on his home phone and shouted abuse at him (something Phil doesn't deny), then Tim's lack of an apology is hardly surprising. Maybe if Phil had shown any willingness to apologise for invading Tim's privacy in such a manner then Tim might have found it easier to reciprocate.

At the end of the day the proper course of action would have been to let both parties know the reality of the situation. To only inform one party just smacks of shit-stirring in my book, but your standards of common courtesy obviously aren't the same as mine (or - it would appear - many others).

You're a temporary darling of the Right not because of your honesty, but instead because you've helped them stitch Tim up. They'll still let their cronies heap abuse and opprobrium upon your. And those on the other side of the debate will be very wary of any dealings with you. Not that I suspect that will bother you.

  16. confused of s.yorks: You are indeed.

There is only one issue here, Tim's accusing the wrong man and admitting this and then failing to apologise for being in the wrong.

Confused? Moi? Afraid not John. The name is merely an ironic epithet, not a reflection on my grasp of issues.

However, your determination to argue that the sole failure is Tim's for not apologising to Phil show either willful and malicious simplification on your part, or an inability to grasp the nuances of the situation you engineered (regardless of whether that was your deliberate or unwitting intent).

Anyway, I'll leave you to consider Galatians 6-7 (King James Edition).

"To only inform one party just smacks of shit-stirring in my book, but your standards of common courtesy obviously aren't the same as mine (or - it would appear - many others)."

Well said. I've noticed that John, for an obviously intelligent man, seems to have very selective perceptions of himself. No matter what your own personal views of yourself & your actions may be, a shit stirrer is a shit stirrer, dress it up how you may see fit.

The right now see him, in their own terminology, as an "Uncle Tom" & the left can place no serious credence in his views.

It really, truly is a shame. But I suspect John's own personal view ofhis own worth will go on, unabated & full of the bullshit he says he cuts through, but which, in fact, he is a prime generator.

There is nothing "honourable" in his response.

  19. anonymong: You're full of shit and I have stirred you up.

Tim's failure to apologise for being wrong speaks volumes.

You seem to be rather stirred yourself John, given that reply!

Methinks thou dost protest too much!

Only one being full of shit here & that's you.

Run along, Iain Dale wants to pat you on the head.

  21. Yawn! You'll have to excuse me, I've been up all night seeking Justice For Madeleine.

Far more important I think you'll agree.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous8:25 PM

It is more important, true, but trying to hide behind that is not going to hide the fact that you are revealed as a shitstirrer.

At least you MAY do some good where that is concerned & I will you well of it. It would be nice to see your shitstirring talents put to good use.

By the way, Nadine says you're lovely.

The bus to Credibility City has departed; you had a seat reserved but you missed the bus.

Now the pet of the right as opposed to someone who can be taken seriously. Such a shame.

For you that is, I find it amusing to see such a self righteous prat exposed.
