Prison's use of force criticised
Prison's use of force criticised
The use of force at Dartmoor Prison has been criticised in a report by the Chief Inspector of Prisons.
The report by Ann Owers also highlighted evidence of "institutional disrespect" with poorly furnished cells and too many inmates locked up.
Ms Owers said the prison had "slipped back" noticeably since her last inspection in 2006.
Young offenders' centre slammed
The treatment of prisoners at Northern Ireland's young offenders centre has been severely criticised by inspectors.
The prison system is creaking at the joints and one has to wonder why so many are being incarcerated. We are definitely moving towards the imprisonment of the population, as in 1788 days.
