A mixture of law, politics, autobiography and humour. Once described as "The Devilish Advocate"
(Guardian), I do have the ability to provoke a response. Sometimes it comes from someone who uses a thought process, and sometimes from jerks usually associated with the knee.
Yeah, and what about the wife? Do you really believe these wives don't know what's going on in such cases? I once overheard a woman expressing her relief that her husband was leaving her alone while he was persecuting their daughters. I don't think she's the only 'mother' who thinks like this. I think that the mothers/wives should also be prosecuted in these cases: somewhere along the line they are guilty.
cherrypie-it begs the question as to what kind of relationship the daughters had with their mother, if they could not call upon her for help and protection.
Anonymous - I guess you have never witnessed or experienced a controlling person. Someone like that would make the daughter feel guilty and that she was somehow to blame and therefor she would NOT discuss it with anyone else!
RE: my previous comment her daughters thought she knew...
I am wonderding if incest is "common" in Yorkshire, and if so is it socially acceptable? I don't mean to sound condesending however I have a friend from that area who I suspect something like this or simlar might have happened to them whilst growing up.
What are the signs, if any, that something like this might have happened to someone?

In response to your last commenter. I used to know someone whose husband abused his daughters and she genuinely didn't know he had been doing it!
ReplyDeleteHe also looks a lot like The late Heinrich Himmler I wonder if by any chance they are related?

Hello
ReplyDeleteI am wonderding if incest is "common" in Yorkshire, and if so is it socially acceptable? I don't mean to sound condesending however I have a friend from that area who I suspect something like this or simlar might have happened to them whilst growing up.
What are the signs, if any, that something like this might have happened to someone?
Any insights would be appreciated.
