Mother covered up babies' deaths
A woman has admitted covering up the birth and burial of two babies at a property in Plymouth.
Kerry Ardis, 21, of Poole Park Road in the Barne Barton area of the Devon city, pleaded guilty to four charges at the city's crown court.
Her daughter's body was found in a wardrobe in 2005, while the body of her son was recovered from the garden in June 2008.

Hasn't this girl heard of contraception, the pill or a condom? I find it hard to believe that on two occasions nobody saw the bump and then it disappear again. What is missing from this story is an explanation how the children died.
QUOTE - At the time a decision was made by the Crown Prosecution Service not to prosecute Ardis as taking her to court would "not be in the public interest". - UNQUOTE
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely shameful, this just beggars belief. If they found the decomposed remains of my wife at the bottom of the wardrobe, would it also be quietly swept under the carpet as not in the public interest? Perhaps social services would decide an enquiry into the circumstances would be too upsetting for me?
Well said John, the vital fact here seems to have been "overlooked". How did they die? Shouldn't she be the subject of a murder investigation. The CPS don't seem to shy away from trying, in the face of resaonable doubt, to convince juries that people have "offed" their near and dear in other circumstances. This kind of discretionary justice annoys the hell out of me, we might think justice lies in the independent hands of "twelve good men and true" but it seems that there is a very UN-independent gatekeeper who decides whether the judiciary even gets a look in.
