Prison officer arrested at jail
A prison officer has been arrested while on duty at Maghaberry jail on suspicion of drugs offences.
The 44-year-old man was detained by police on Monday.
He was not charged with any offence and was released on his own bail pending further inquiries.
The Prison Service said that the officer had been suspended from duty "as a precautionary measure."
Maghaberry is Northern Ireland's high security prison holding more than 700 men including paramilitaries.
About 1000 people work at the jail.
In 2007 the jail's Governor said drugs smuggling had been a major problem for many years and despite efforts to stamp it out it had continued to worsen.
