Tortoise fitted with 'crash helmet'
Vets have fitted a 'crash helmet' on a giant tortoise to protect him while a hole in his shell grows over.
Speaker Martin is a fencepost tortoise
Some MPs are still able to laugh down at the House of Sighs at Westminster.
News reaches me of the first joke linked to the crisis surrounding the Speaker. In a bid to understand his predicament, Michael Martin is being likened to a "fence post tortoise".
An MP says: "When you're driving along a country road and you come across a fence post with a tortoise balanced on top, that's called a fencepost tortoise.
"You know he didn't get up there by himself, he definitely doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he is up there - and you just have to wonder what kind of idiot put him up there in the first place."
