One law for benefit cheats and another for expenses cheating MPs

One law for benefit cheats and another for expenses cheating MPs

I would question whether imprisonment was the appropriate punishment in the case of Mother claimed £13,000 in benefits while sending son to private school. Is she a risk to the public? And what about the cost to the taxpayer of £500 per week whilst she is in a cell? I think the agreement to repay £50 per month has been set too low.

While the government has informed us that it intends to crack down on benefit cheats, we have yet to see an expenses cheating MP charged let alone imprisoned for fiddling more than in the case above.
