Apology to daughters raped by Sheffield man

Apology to daughters raped by Sheffield man

Two daughters made pregnant 18 times over a 25-year period by their father have received an apology from the agencies who failed to protect them.

Sometimes an apology does not go far enough.

The father was sentenced to 25 life sentences by the trial judge. However, "The father's minimum jail term of 19-and-a-half years was cut to 14-and-a-half years at the Court of Appeal in May 2009". A tariff of a minimum of 14-and-a-half years appears to make a mockery of the sentence. Nobody can serve more than one life sentence, so it appears absurd to impose 25 life sentences.
