Mephedrone ban comes into force

Mephedrone ban comes into force

Mephedrone is banned in Britain from today with police promising to crack down on dealers of the drug.

"The Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo) has urged forces around the country to concentrate efforts on those selling the drug, adding that it had ''no intention'' of criminalising young people in possession.

But it said that users of mephedrone still run the risk of arrest and prosecution after its reclassification as a class B drug, with the decision being made on a case-to-case basis.

From midnight last night, those caught in possession of the party drug could face conviction and a possible five years in prison. The maximum sentence for dealing or trafficking the substance is 14 years".

Why is ACPO, which is a private company, dictating to our public police force? "Legislation placing the drug and other related compounds in the Class B category alongside cannabis was rushed through Parliament." This is not a democracy we live in, it is a dictatorship! Why couldn't they rush prisoners votes through Parliament?

The general public don't care enough about prisoners votes for it to be considered an important enough issue for it to be "rushed through parliament", after all, it is election time they need to be seen to be protecting the public, not enabling "criminals" basic human rights! Fools.
