European Union seeks to levy taxes directly on Member States

European Union seeks to levy taxes directly on Member States

I do not know whether this is a good or bad idea. However, it concerns me that George Osborne and David Cameron are stating that they intend to challenge the EU plans even before they have read the plans!

Moreover, it is being reported that "it could spark a showdown between the Coalition and other European leaders in the autumn". There already is going to be another showdown in September, when the Council of Europe will demand to know what the UK intends to do about its failure to implement Hirst v UK (No2).

I don't see what all the fuss is about in the UK over a federal Europe. The British Empire is dead. It's all about forward thinking and not harping back to the past!
