Michael Jackson appears in court on paedophile charges

A 49-year-old man has appeared in court charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy in the West Midlands.

The child, from Oldbury, was reported missing on Sunday morning after he failed to return home from local shops.

Following a police search, the boy was found unhurt in a nearby flat.

Michael Jackson, from Bristnall Hall Road in Oldbury, did not speak during the hearing at Warley Magistrates' Court. He was remanded in custody.

Mr Jackson was also charged with false imprisonment and threats to kill, as well as another charge of child abduction relating to a separate incident on 14 September in which an 11-year-old child, also from Oldbury, was allegedly abducted.

No application for bail was made, with Mr Jackson committed to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 8 February 2012.
