Steven Messham abused again this time by the Mail on Sunday
Steven Messham was sexually abused.
He was also falsely accused of fraud of charity funds but acquitted, and benefit fraud and once again acquitted.
The Mail on Sunday makes much of these accusations and only later makes little of his innocence.
On the other hand, the Daily Mail supported Hitler's rise to power and has not been acquitted!
Gerard Elias QC, counsel to the Waterhouse inquiry, conceded that "the name McAlpine has hung over the rumour of abuse in North Wales by people in high places for as long those rumours have existed".
It may have been the police who told Steven Messham that a photo they showed him was someone called McAlpine. Or, it could be time and retelling which clouds the truth with fiction.
What is clear is that the Sunday Mail is too close to politicians and the Establishment to be classed as a free press.
