Madeliene parents to go on the run?

I don't suppose that this picture will get the same amount of media attention and outpouring of emotions from the public that followed the announcement that Madeliene was missing. We know what happened to this little girl who appeared to be about the same age as Madeliene.

For several days now the top story on my blog has been "What child abduction?". As a result of all the donations which poured in to the so-called find Madeliene fighting fund, "The parents of missing Madeleine McCann have said they will "travel wherever is necessary" in their search to find their four-year-old daughter". "Mr McCann said that since Madeleine may no longer be in Portugal the search for her would extend "far and wide"". "Kate and I will play a key part in that campaign. We will travel wherever is necessary to ensure people across Europe recognise Madeleine's picture and we will encourage them to come forward with any information which might lead to Madeleine's safe return."

You can run but you cannot hide. Was this whole thing an elaborate set up? Swanning off all over Europe in search of the Holy Grail? Why did they leave Britain in the first place? If the holiday was genuine, what do Gerry and Kate McCann know about Madeliene's disappearance? I feel that they are hiding something and would rather not come home and face the British police on their own turf. A life long holiday costs a lot of money. Perhaps the account should be frozen until satisfactory answers have been given to unanswered questions which have not yet been put to the modern day equivalents of Bonnie and Clyde...

Excuse me c4 but making threats is unacceptable.

  3. c4: As zin zin points out your behaviour is unacceptable. It would appear that it is you that is sick from your comment. All I am doing is raising questions about this affair which nobody else feels inclined to ask. So far there is no evidence of any abduction, nor evidence of any break in. Given that we only have hear say to go on, it is sensible to ask questions rather than get sucked up into this emotional hysteria which you appear to suffer from.

Zin Zin, I have noticed that you have linked to my blog, and I have linked back to yours.

Ta for the link I must admit I have been rather apprehensive about visiting about your blog and I never thought that I would post here, never mind link here.

As a Christian I should practice the virtue of forgiveness which I admit I don't always do. John you did the crime and the time and you have repented there is nothing to forgive. Your also a good writer which has won me over more than anything in truth.

John you are the only one asking the right questions during this Sohamesque episode.

Whilst the benefit of doubt must be given to the MaCanns, there are too many unanswered questions raised by this whole affair.

C4, back off and accept that John has done his time.

The whole 'madi' affair, as I saw on a poster in the back of car in front of me today, is sickening. In the same time the girl has been missing, over 500 people have gone missing in the UK...where are their tv specials and news heqadlines?

I do feel sorry for the parents and their missing child....I may not feel the same as john but I do feel there are lots of unanswered questions.

The Portuguese police and the world's Media have not found any evidence that Madeleine was abducted or wandered off.

    The Hard facts are:
Madeleine and her younger brother and sister were left alone every night in an unlocked room by their Parents during their Holiday. The parents could easily afford acredited Child care. The parents are Catholic. Madeleine was conceived by IVF. The fighting fund was set up and is organised by the McCann's law team. Conflcting stories of the night that Mdeleine went missing originate from the McCann Family.

  9. ZinZin: I am an acquired taste, like roses I grow on you. WYSIWYG. I am afraid that I am not into religion. But that does not make me a bad man or that I do not strive to do right. I went through a lot of soul searching in my transformation. I asked myself "How would you like to live next door to an axe killer?", and then "In the same house?". I had to convince myself first that I was no longer a risk to the public before I could convince others. Those who criticise me don't know what I had to go through. They want to put me on trial again for something that happened 28 years ago. I cannot justify it, only explain. But they don't want to listen. They prefer their ignorance, fear and prejudice. They believe that I should not be speaking out. That I should bow my head in silence. I won't do that. I did the time for the crime and 10 years extra. Enough is enough.

In prison, we would hear all sorts of stories. Prisoners are the toughest of judges. They have an instinct for when something is not right. There is a saying, you can't con a con so don't bother trying. They cut straight to the chase. They will hear you out and suss out if something is being withheld in a version of events.

This case rings alarm bells in my head. If its all genuine and above board I will be the first to apologise. Some of the pieces of the jig-saw puzzle are missing.

You're welcome here anytime. One of my first flame wars was with Sunny and I beat him and he apologised. I admit I picked my words carefully and he fell into the trap. It taught us mutual respect for fellow bloggers. Something some of the other are sadly lacking.

barnacle bill: Always give suspects the benefit of doubt. A problem here is that neither Gerry and Kate McCann have been treated as suspects. I feel that they should be if only to eliminate from the police inquiry.

    Steve: Cheers.

The Conflict between devoute Catholic Parents and an IVF Child should be investigated. I have NOT seen this explored in the media.

I have just read some of the comments and actually I feel there is something slightly suspicous about the whole thing everything started in slow motion except the money donations how many children have gone missing never this much hype her mother was the last to see her must have kept to routine every night what changed the night Madeliene dissappeared no baby sitter

Any Idea why the "fighting fund" was set up as a Limited company and not a charity?

Going one step further, as "Leaving No Stone Unturned" is not a charity, does this mean the way the money is spent is mainly unaccountable?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Apparently, the Charities Commission refused to give it charity status. And, the only beneficiaries here are the McCann family. I don't think that the money would be as accountable. For example, if it was a charity and the McCanns asked for money to go around Europe like they are planning, I would expect that a charity would tell them that the purpose is not to waste money on flights of fancy.

    Question asks:

What about 'The International Family Law Group', won't they benefit too?

Tell you what, finding links to the fund details on their site rather than being linked to a Paypal donation is getting harder and harder.

  18. I think that the International Law Group are nothing less than ambulance chasers. The problem is that a lot of people have given a lot of money to what they believe is a good cause and they are getting fleeced.

  19. JHL, I'm sorry, but I really don't like the way you're approaching this.

Let's stick with a few basic principles like 'innocent until proven guilty' and 'we need evidence and sound inference as opposed to mere speculation'.

Presumably the Portuguese cops aren't completely incompetent and it has, in fact, occurred to them that there might be more to this than meets the eye. I'd be astonished if they haven't thought to question the McCanns about their movements on the night in question and to confirm their accounts from other witnesses. It's common sense they've got to exclude the possibility the parents were in some way involved in the girl's disappearance. The Portuguese cops seem quite happy with the McCanns' account (or if they're not, they're not letting on).

Meanwhile, what have you got to go on? Essentially, your impression of the McCanns' behaviour as mediated by an hysterical press. For Christ's sake, I've never known anyone who's had a much-wanted child vanish as a result of what, with hindsight, must feel like unforgivable stupidity and carelessness, so I don't know what normal behaviour under such extreme circumstances is like.

I imagine anyone would be racked with anxiety for her fate and guilt at their own carelessness. And, since they're devout Catholics who, nevertheless, conceived by IVF (even devout Catholics sometimes do things the Church doesn't like, and then they feel bad about it afterwards), that's likely to be an added guilt. I'm not very devout, but I know people who are, and how their minds work in some circumstances.

How would someone react in a situation like that? It seems just as normal, if we can that word in this context, to rush around searching the continent for her and trying to feel you're doing everything possible to help find her, particularly when there's a media circus going on around you, as it would be quietly to go home and wait for news from Portugal.

You ask, 'Why did they leave Britain in the first place?' Well, it's hardly suspicious behaviour to go abroad for your holidays, is it? 'If the holiday was genuine', indeed! Is there any reason to suppose it wasn't? 'What do Gerry and Kate McCann know about Madeleine's disappearance?' Maybe they know as much as they've told the local cops, who seem satisfied with their accounts -- I realise that's not conclusive, but it's a possibility worth considering, isn't it?

  20. not saussure: I'm aware it may not be a popular view. I fully accept the principle of innocent until proven guilty. It is the lack of evidence in the mainstream media accounts for their claims that Madeliene has been abducted that is an area of concern for me. It's just hear say at best. A version put across by the McCanns. Their version of a break in has been contested by the holiday firm who state that there is no sign of any break in. This leads to to the question was it an inside job? Their version of events only left a possible abductor or abductors a half hour window of opportunity. It is possible, but more likely to be improbable.

The Portugese police appear to be very tight lipped on what they think or don't think.

I have largely ignored the mainstream media because of its hype. At the very least, the McCanns are guilty of negligence or child neglect for leaving children so young unattended by an appropriate adult or childminder. If this had occurred over here I think the police and social services would have had something to say about that. The initial video of them aroused my suspicions and reminds me of those over here where the police examine them for signs indicating suspicion.

They are a professional couple and yet everything about this smells of unprofessionalism, save for the business side of raising money, and how quick they employed the ambulance chasing law firm.

I ask the question, why did they leave Britain in the first place because they are in no hurry to return home. Perhaps, they had financial worries? If this was the case, that problem appears to be solved now. The setting up of the fund was done at lightening speed. I would have thought money was the least of their worries having just lost their daughter? It may have been a genuine holiday. But they seem in no hurry to end it. I would not want to stay in a place associated with so much grief.

I don't speak my dissent lightly. It is not a tactic to boost ratings. My stats show that this has been the top story for over a week. What abduction? If it wasn't, the outcome for Madeliene might be worse.

Don't be so quick to dismiss the IVF angle. Who are the true Biological parents of Madeleine? She certainly looks like Kate. Is there a person who wanted its 'child' back?

The press conference tonight was mainly designed at passing guilt for leaving the three Children alone every night for hours at a time in a strange flat in a foreign land. Suspect the International Family law Group well involved there as funds depend on this.

Well done for writing what's on your mind.

The public are too emotional and sympathetic to the McCanns that they fail to be objective to the whole situation.
