Sleazy Tory Party scores an own goal

The Conservative MEP charged by David Cameron with ensuring the probity of expenses claims admitted last night to breaking the rules by channelling thousands of pounds of allowances into a family company.

Don't tell me that's a sword of truth he's wielding? Didn't that other corrupt Tory Jeffery Archer wield one of these? Off with his head that's what I say!

UPDATE: I have just been reminded in comments that it was that other corrupt Tory MP Jonathan Aitken who wielded the sword of truth...

    A rather minor point but the famous user of the "sword of truth and trusty shield of fair play" was Jonathan Aitken

  2. Funny you should say that, as I posted a comment on Charon QC's blog, who also picked up the story, I got the thought 'Or was that Jonathan Aitken?'.

    There so many of them corrupt they all seem to get lumped together...
