Offenders face public vote on punishments
Ministers revive Respect agenda with plans to extend community justice
The public may be able to vote for what form of punishment is handed out to convicted criminals in their neighbourhood under plans being drawn up by ministers.
I am disappointed to note that Jack Straw has failed to grasp with his "prisons should punish offenders", that prisons are where prisoners go as a punishment and not for punishment.
In my view, I believe that seeing justice done is not about the offender being seen in a high-visibility jacket but instead the community work carried out by the offender being seen by the public.
A mixture of law, politics, autobiography and humour. Once described as "The Devilish Advocate" (Guardian), I do have the ability to provoke a response. Sometimes it comes from someone who uses a thought process, and sometimes from jerks usually associated with the knee.
