Speaker Martin involved in £150k holiday expenses scandal
In my view, the test should be: 'How much is it going to cost and who is going to benefit?'.
In this case, it has cost the taxpayers £150,000 and the only ones to benefit from this expense is Michael Martin, his wife, and his entourage.
When Michael Martin is the person responsible for authorising such trips at the public expense, his being judge in his own cause is not acceptable. If he has been granted powers to abuse, then such power should be removed. He has proved himself to be no more trustworthy than a street urchin let loose in a sweet shop.
