Sick of the Tories being no benefit to the country
It may well be the case that a small percentage of the 2.6 million people claiming incapacity benefits have been wrongly assessed by the Department of Works and Pensions.
Without producing one shred of evidence to support their claim the Tories are stating that they believe about 400,000 are wrongly claiming incapacity benefit.
The Tories have done their sums and decided if they are going to give benefits to the rich then the money must come from somewhere, what better than to take it from one of the most vulnerable groups in society - the sick?
Having already decided on the figure of about 400,000, "Private firms will be brought in to assess each incapacity benefit claimant".
There are a couple of problems. "It is estimated that the move would save the Treasury £1 billion over five years". Firstly, what will be the cost to the country of employing private firms out of public money to try and cut public spending? Secondly, it is one thing for the government to have personal medical details of claimants and quite another for private firms to be given access to such confidential information.
Why is David Cameron making all this noise about those seeking incapacity benefits and yet he is oh so quiet when it comes to tackling the bigger issue of MPs and their fiddled expenses claims?
I think they call it taking your eye off the ball John.
