The inequality of equality
Is this Trevor Phillips, the racist chair of the Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR)for real? He is advocating that "Economic migrants could be forced to make a bigger contribution to the cost of public services". Surely, this is inequality? As in all pigs are equal but some pigs are more equal than others...
A mixture of law, politics, autobiography and humour. Once described as "The Devilish Advocate" (Guardian), I do have the ability to provoke a response. Sometimes it comes from someone who uses a thought process, and sometimes from jerks usually associated with the knee.

That does not seem very logical. Following the marxist canon of "from each according to his means to each according to his needs", but also following plain common sense, this would on the surface appear to be unacceptable, it would represent a higher taxation of exactly those who in many cases are the most needy.
Of course those most in need WHATEVER their background should receive more help, while those with most wealth WHATEVER their background should contribute most.
We should be giving new arrivals a "leg-up" a chance to get themselves established, not trying to rob what little they have. Another knee jerk reaction to respond to the sort of emotive diatribe published about UK taxpayers of Polish nationality daring to claim child benefit for their kids, sorry of course, child benefit is a birthright not an entitlement one earns through paying taxes, silly me.
Good old labour, nice to see the red flag flying. I wonder where Mr. Phillips would be today had similar policies been applied in previous decades or maybe his going to Imperial College after his high school in Guyana had nothing to do with better opportunities in Britain!
