The Independent has a very good leader entitled Philip Lawrence murder: Case for redemption? And, this related article is also worth reading Crime and punishment. Compared to the rantings and ravings of David Cameron and Tony McNulty they provide a refreshing breath of fresh air.
This is also an interesting article PC killers charged with stabbing prisoner. It also refers to terrorists coming under attack in prison from other prisoners.

Now, the independent piece actually sounds as though it is written by a human being. About time.
In the article on the prison stabbing, though, I don't quite see where the bit about the alleged terrorists getting attacked fits in, it seems like a bit of a stray appendage to the story. Not surprising though. It would be naive to assume the security services don't have their stooges on the inside as well - if they need them with so many Sun readers around!
