Madeleine McCann's parents to sue newspaper
I think it is a bit rich that Gerry and Kate McCann are suing a Portugese newspaper for libel. They claim that it has caused them "suffering and humiliation" to read reports in the newspaper which they claim are not based on facts. However, I did not hear them complaining when the newspapers printed their version of events which were not based on facts. That is, the alleged abduction of Madeleine and the alleged break-in at their apartment. They will be arguing that the newspaper report has defamed their good character. Let us not forget that this couple were responsible for child neglect and/or abandonment for 3 hours leaving their children home alone whilst they went out for drinks, and a meal and a quiz at a Tapas Bar.
UPDATE: McCanns seek to whitewash their tarnished reputations.

Perhaps this is the McCann's first major mistake.
If the paper can get the McCann 9 in the witness box to give their statements of what happened and highlight the discrepancies, and also get the woman from upstairs who said that she had heard crying in the McCann appartment 2 nights before Madeline disappeared, it might affect the decision.
Perhaps they could also ask the McCann 9 what they were wearing the night Madeline disappeared. Was it one of the McCann 9 people saw around the appartment?
But surely, their "suffering and humiliation", is self inflicted?
Has anyone read the novel QB 7 by Leon Uris? Also has anyone seen the episode of the Simpsons where Bart falls down the well? Like Dan said, the first major slip up. Intriguing drama, this. It'll all come out in the wash - but this could take a decade or 2 to resolve. The truth is out there!
Lord Archer also sued a newspaper for libel and won. Initially.
How about Sarah Lancashire as Kate and Robson Green as Gerry, when the time comes?

This world sickens me. Look at that poor guy who spent 20 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit. How many more innocent, poorly educated, inarticulate working class prisoners are there? How many guilty, well-educated, articulate people are walking free and climbing their professional ladders? Plato's Republic is as relevant today as it was in 5th Century BC.
I have little faith that this crime/case will be resolved because there is no 'body'. After some time we'll forget, and the McCanns, and their 'friends', will continue with their comfortable professions, and their 'dinner party' life style. They, the Tapas9, are beyond the law.
Would you be happy drinking and eating knowing that your friends have left children of 2 and 3 years, alone in a strange place, plus the fact that one of them is prone to sleep walking, on what was after all 'a family holiday'? I certainly wouldn't, and I can't help thinking that they are all guilty of something. But, so what?!
Whenever I see photos of this pair, I see a couple on holiday. She's got a nice streaked hair do, they're both tanned and look as if they're just going out for a stroll. You hardly ever see them with their kids. And as for having an 'abducted' daughter??? O really now! A distressed distraughted mother and father???!!!

I wanna say tha Kate McCann 'as worried me from the beginnin'. ? more to hide-lets him do all the talkin'-he leaves Portugual more than 'er-she always 'as 'er lippy on, (me own opinion is she's a tight lipped mean bitch, I won't like to cross 'er; she don't look mumish to me).
