Michael Parkinson fights for dignity in care homes

"Elderly people are being treated like inmates in prison by uncaring nurses, Sir Michael Parkinson has claimed, as he promotes a drive to ensure patients live with dignity and respect in hospitals and care homes".

Don't forget the OAPs who are in prisons.

Have you contacted Michael about this John?

Age does not absolve ones guilt unless they suffer from alzheimers or dementia. If they are imprisoned because of a heinous act, be it rape, murder, kiddy fiddling, these kind of crimes then I don't care if they are old.

I'm a bit lost here nunyaa. Are you implying that if someone is guilty of an offence it is ok if they are treated without dignity and abused? I'm truly wondering here cos this is what the article relates to and you come up with that response?

Personally, I dont see Parkinson taking anything up on the way elderly prisoners are treated [or not] cos he is a bigoted whining moron.

The fact he says 'like inmates' alludes to the fact he thinks himself that less than respectful care is okay for some, like if they happen to be inmates - and not his mother.

What's the bigger issue here?

Is he throwing away some guilt and blame? After all, how much money does this guy have? How had the means to take his mother out of that, or any other care home at any given point.

He was not happy, but chose to take the lesser action of complaining, rather than being as active on this as he could have been and talking with 'his mothers feet' - to another care home - or by putting her in his house, or another house and paying for someone to care for her if he was THAT concerned.

Maybe Parkies real issue is he is more concerned the same dilemma could be coming to him some day soon?!

NO I do not say it is ok for any prisoner to be abused be they aged ones or not. It is best not to assume.
