Paul Staines/Guido Fawkes sentenced

Paul Staines/Guido Fawkes sentenced

The once upon a time connected to the BNP but now a Tory blogger, Paul Staines/Guido Fawkes, has been sentenced to wearing an electronic tag, and subjected to a 9pm to 6am curfew for 3 months, and an 18 month supervision order, for his second drink driving offence and driving without insurance.

Whilst quick to attack other people on his blog for their indiscretions, remarkably Paul Staines/Guido Fawkes has remained silent about his own wrongdoings.

I am somewhat puzzled why he was not charged with Taking Without Owner's Consent his wife's VW? If his wife gave him consent, surely she knew he was not covered by her insurance? Then why wasn't she charged as well?

Hopefully, the idiot will breach his curfew/supervision order and get sentenced to 18 months imprisonment as a result.

At best / worst the most he could be sentenced for would be six months

His curfew seems very severe, the judge must have heard more than a simple over the limit prosecution.

Maybe the judge reads his blog and doesn't want the interruption 'pokey' would entail?

His wife can legally refuse to give evidence against him or to talk at all - so its always hard to get a taking without consent charge to stick where a spouse is involved.
