Nigger in the wood pile
Nigger in the wood pile
Torture row: David Miliband denies US threatened to stop sharing intelligence
“We never condone or authorise the use of torture,” he said.
I said: Liar. Liar.
"Mr Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, faced calls to make a statement to Parliament today on the treatment of Mr Mohamed".
What's the point, he will only lie again and mislead Parliament again and mislead the public again. He should resign or be sacked. No ifs no buts.
"Pressure mounted on Mr Obama to release Mr Mohamed immediately and to allow the publication of the information".
Since when do we have to ask the American President for permission to do what is right in this country?
n.b. Nigger in the woodpile "some fact of considerable importance that is not disclosed - something suspicious or wrong".
Wasn't Uncle Tom's Cabin made of wood?
Whilst namby pamby liberals worry about the use of the "N" word, I am more concerned about the use of the "T" word, Torture is torture is torture!

Clive Stafford Smith is wrong: the judges "ruled that the foreign secretary has the power to suppress the evidence by claiming "national security". The Secretary of State has no such power to breach the rule of law. However, "Yet the judgment is canny. If the judges had ordered the material to be revealed, over the government's objection, there would have been a protracted appeal and nobody would have learned anything for months or years. Instead, they have placed both the British government and the Obama administration in the immediate and uncomfortable position of having to confess whether they want to cover up evidence of torture".

Good post John, like you I think the "T" word is of far greater importance than the storm in a jar of marmalade we have at the moment.
Enjoy the week-end!
