Canoe man up shit creek without a paddle

Canoe man up shit creek without a paddle

John Darwin, the so-called 'Canoe Man’ who faked his own death to claim £250,000 in insurance and pension payouts, is attempting to profit from his crimes by writing a book while in prison, according to reports.

While I agree in principle that somebody should not benefit from their crime, for example someone murdering a relative to claim insurance money or for the contents of a will, I think writing a book in prison and earning money from it is not the same thing. In any event, I don't seem to recall the authorities attempting to stop Jeffrey Archer from cashing in from his crime whilst he was in prison and writing books which he then profitted from. In John Darwin's case, I am more concerned about Alan Caramanica who appears to be attempting to sell Darwin's story and pocket the proceeds himself.

Yeah, but Jeffrey Archer was an MP. They have rights that us mortals do not have. But you are right, I was thinking exactly the same when the media were making a story of this and jumping up and down on him.

Well the story will only sell if it is good enough or the people are gullible ;-)

I really have no interest in why "Canoe man" faked his death or any other of his adventures along the way. Can't somehow see it hitting the ten best sellers list.
