Prisoners Votes Case in the news
Jailhouselawyer on Calendar in a special report on the Prisoners Votes Case. It's the second story and runs for about 10 minutes. Godfrey Bloom MEP shows himself up to be a bloody idiot!
Unfortunately, all those who sent a text displayed their ignorance, prejudice and fear.

The Brussels card trumps thoughtful debate. It's a cheap trick but the ideas-less Mr Bloom played it to good effect even though, in personal terms, he had zero likeability whereas the two of you, I think, came across very well. People are very unwilling to engage with any debate about penal reform, aren't they? I wonder about it a lot. Is it because people have given up on the expectation that prisoners can be rehabilitated because tabloid publicity gives the impression that they all come out and do it all again? Prisons' record on rehabilitation reinforces this. The big problem for this debate about votes is getting people to first base: willing to listen and consider. So long as the default is Fuck 'em, it's going to be uphill. Not that it's subject to public opinion, of course, but it would be good to see good sense prevail along with the verdict of the court.
Charles: The problem is that it is Strasbourg and not Brussels and that idiot being a MEP should have known better!
What I find annoying is that none of the big politicians will be interviewd on the subject, so we are left with the teabag that the teaboy gave us.
