Teenager found dead in jail cell

Teenager found dead in jail cell

A teenage prisoner serving a one-year term was found hanging in his prison cell on Christmas Day, the Ministry of Justice has said.

Paramedics sought to revive Joker Idris after he was found in his cell at HMP Chelmsford, Essex, in the morning but he was pronounced dead shortly after.

The 18-year-old had been serving a sentence for possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage.

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman has started an inquiry into the death.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Justice said: "HMP Chelmsford prisoner Joker Idris was found hanging in his cell at 0715 GMT on 25 December. Staff and paramedics attended but he was pronounced dead at around 0730 GMT.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Idris."

What an utter tragedy. Criminal damage - when I was a kid I think we called them vandals, and he would probably have had his wrists slapped. Kids do that. And possession of an offensive weapon? What did he do, carry in his pocket a penknife, or horror of horrors a flick knife! He obviously didn't hurt anyone or the charge would have been different.

And now this slightly unruly teenage kid is dead! Victim of an excess of knee jerking and baying for blood by the "moral" majority

A result of the nanny state which decrees that one must not reprimand one's own children too hard. The result is that they push the boundaries ever further until they end up doing bird.

At the risk of being accused of sounding trivial, Joker Idris sounds something of a cross between a character out of Batman and a character out of Ivor the Engine.

Also I feel that he could well have had mental problems which had not been addressed. Another feather in Gordon Braun's cap.

And just one other thing, they could well have stuck him in a cell with a troglodyte prick who made his life hell. All hail the human race.

What a sick world we live in-just look at the McCanns! They were reported to have had lots of medication in their apartment, enough for someone in the police to comment on; they sedated their kid, or kids; they are obviously involved in their child's disappearance; their photographs of Madeleine are 'suspicious'; and have exploited and profitted from Madeleine; they have lied to the police; they have mislead the search for their daughter-yet they are free.

Only the good die young; he was half the age of the McMentiras who have done nothing but profit from Madeleine's looks and innocence. What did that vile couple and their equally vile friends do to that little girl which necessitated in the 'disappearance' of her body? Mirror Forums have some hard hitting suspicions. Read Estelle.

Perhaps it is better to get out before it gets too late. If you are from the unemployed no-hope classes, and have a prison record, what the f*** can you do, realistically, to pull yourself out and up?
