Graffiti prison terms overturned

Graffiti prison terms overturned

Two graffiti artists jailed for spray painting trains and railway bridges have had their sentences overturned.

I agree in principle that community sentences as opposed to custodial sentences are more appropriate in this case. I could not help but wonder when I read this "Mr Dolan said he was continuing with plans for a career in art and design.", how he would feel if someone came along and sprayed graffiti upon his artwork?

This has been bizarre at both ends. The sentences were rather long. The glorification of their grubby deeds has been very odd. They are not even very good at it.

Since Banksy made loads of ca$$$$$$h at graffiti lots of young hopefuls are doing this in the hope of becoming famous and rich! Although it's annoying to have graffitti sprayed on your walls, it's better they did something creative rather than mugging old ladies! Maybe graffiti artist need a cause to fight rather than the mindless 'tagging' that goes on?
