'Half of web users' support bloggers' code
"A voluntary code of conduct for bloggers and internet commentators is supported by almost half of all internet users, a survey has claimed".
"The researchers said 46 per cent of web users believe bloggers should agree to a set of guidelines which reflected the laws on defamation, intellectual property rights and incitement".

I think a bloggers' code would be silly. It would attempt to bind bloggers around the world to specific legal principles, yet there is no global law on libel or any other issue. Whose law would be followed?
More importantly, how would you enforce it? You can't kick someone off the internet and bloggers can post from any open internet access point. How would you even find them? And even if we could find them, is that something we want to direct resources toward?
I think it's a good idea in name but really impractical.
The point is 'they' want to regulate us for exposing the lies of Government and others.
'They' are successfully controlling the MSM and don't like the thought of the loose canon that is the Blogosphere.
For example, the current show trials of 'terrorists' have been well trashed by the internet community.

Agreed with the top two posters. Where would this code stop? Excuse me but I thought that the premise of creating an online diary was to express your personal thoughts. What next, the THOUGHT POLICE? Just what did Arthur C. Clarke warn us about in his novel entitled "1984"????
