Russian soldier kidnaps British girl
An 11-year-old British girl has been left stranded in Russia after her biological father obtained a Court Order preventing her from leaving the country until she is 18.
Its marvellous isn't it? The British embassy can assist the McCanns, who killed their daughter, to evade justice in Portugal but will not assist in this case because it is scared of Russia.

It is hardly kidnapping.
'Although his wife and step daughter are British citizens the pair travelled on Russian passports, making them subject to the country's law.'
In a similar situation here, The Lugano Convention would be applicable.
I was subject to the provisions of that Convention while in Poland - an EU country - and had to abide by the Law.
Perhaps, Mr Osborne and his wife are trying to tie the custody problem with cash from the flat.
Certainly sounds like it.
If Mr Osborne thinks he is on an earner, he should think again.
I would never have expected the Russophobic propaganda that passes for MSM reporting finding its way here.
This story came from The Telegraph which never once has acknowledged the attempted genocide in South Ossetia - in fact, The Telegraph colluded with the blanking out of all news of the Georgian attack and the blocking of the ceasefire resolution by the UK.
The selective nature of justice is a bloomin marvel. Not.
Lets take the same situation in a different context - British father converts to Islam and moves to Iran with his daughter leaving mother behind in UK. Father and daughter become Iranian citizens.
They visit the UK on holiday travelling on their British passports. Mother wants daughter to stay in UK and decides to take advantage of their visit to try to recuperate daughter.
Any guesses what the outcome might be? Just or unjust? Cultural and gender prejudices aside where is the practical difference I ask?
jailhouselawyer,
It was reported that Miliband flew to Russia to address it's aggressive attack on Georgia. As Barnacle Bill said, perhaps the 'boy in nappies' was sent packing with a 'flea in his ear' !!
It depends on whether the child is being given any choice or is being held against her will by the father. If it suited HIS purpose, Miliband would undoubtedly step in. Can't see it benefitting the McCanns, so I doubt he'll bother.
merkin,
I expect the distraught British mother made sure 'news reached here'. The child is a British citizen protected by British law, as is her mother.
The British Embassy she no doubt turned to were obliged to report the matter to the Foreign Office.
