A mixture of law, politics, autobiography and humour. Once described as "The Devilish Advocate"
(Guardian), I do have the ability to provoke a response. Sometimes it comes from someone who uses a thought process, and sometimes from jerks usually associated with the knee.
He has not U turned, John. He promised a referendum IF there was a Country still to ratify the treaty. Now there is not but it should be remembered that Labour brought us into the EU (or EEC as it was known in the 70's) it was Labour who promised us a referendum and did not. It was labour who signed the Lisbon agreement and it was labour who cemented this in place which leaves dave very little room to manoeuvre. We can be offered the opportunity to vote whether or not we want to remain in the EU so maybe "cast iron Dave" has turned this into the 2010 General election into an EU referendum.
I wanted the opportunity to vote whether I wanted to officially be a member of the EU and I now want the opportunity to vote whether or not I want to remain in it.
DD: It's an old news story which suddenly found new legs or got a second wind. The Tory mutterings on this are the same kind of nonsense they talk about a new British Bill of Rights.
WR: Family Lore has a post about a fossilised white rabbit...

I had to laugh at the headline in the ineffable 'Express' today.
BRITAIN: THE END
Um righty...
Whatever.
