The appointment of Chris Grayling as Justice Secretary has raised the prospect of the Coalition taking a harder line on human rights. He replaces Kenneth Clarke, who largely sided with the Lib Dems against Conservatives who want to repeal the Human Rights Act and replace it with a British Bill of Rights.
A senior Lib Dem lawyer said the party would “watch Chris Grayling like a hawk”.

It is an error of judgement on the part of David Cameron to appoint Chris Grayling as the Minister for ensuring human rights when he is personally opposed to human rights and has only been appointed to appease extreme right wingTory backbenchers who are opposed to human rights for other people.In my view those opposed to human rights for others should sign a disclaimer opting out of human rights protection for themselves.
