I am not at all sure that this is a resigning matter. Government officials have done a lot worse and have not had the decency to resign. True, Lord Browne committed perjury and/or perverting the course of justice. An offence or offences which saw Lord Archer and Jonathan Aitken prosecuted and serve time in custody at Her Majesty's Pleasure. (Why does she get pleasure out of someone else's suffering?). I feel that given that the judge decided not to refer the matter to the Attorney General, and the fact that Lord Browne has been named and shamed, that ought to have been enough. It seems a shame that a career with BP spanning 40 years has come to an end, just because he put his nozzle where the sun doesn't shine or vice a versa.
