Brown wins crunch vote on 42 days: And the country loses
"Prime Minister Gordon Brown has narrowly won a House of Commons vote on extending the maximum time police can hold terror suspects to 42 days.
Rebel Labour MPs had joined forces with Conservative and Lib Dems to vote against the proposals.
But it was not enough to defeat the plan which ministers claim is needed to deal with complex terror plots.
The government won by nine votes, with 315 MPs backing its position and 306 MPs voting against it".
How the vote was won...
Vote or else...

How depressing!
It is when they have the backing of the UDP, and it past links with terrorists.
I don't think it will get past in the House of Lords.
Depressing isn't it?
All those principled MPs sell their principles. Prostitutes would better describe them.
Just what is so great about our democracy?
Yes let's hope it doesn't get past in the House of Lords!
Very pleased, as it would appear are the 65% who wanted those who were suspected of going to do us harm being kept that little bit longer, just in case. That little bit longer may save lives you know, no rubbish about a police state and Magna Carta please. The folk I know are not going to be arrested and give not a fig what a crowd of bloggers think. You'd be the first to cry foul if your lives were in danger, easy to be a hero until your heroics are needed and then we'd see you in your true colours.
