Foreign national prefers British prison to deportation

Foreign national prefers British prison to deportation

It is being stated that a foreign national is exploiting a loophole in the system by remaining in prison once his sentence has been completed rather than face deportation. However, I would argue that the deportation order is not legal therefore his continued detention constitutes false imprisonment. In my view, the country of origin must be known otherwise it creates an absurdity. How can you send someone to No Man's Land?

jailhouselawyer,

Exactly .... whilst other prisoners have early release due to overcrowding. Lunacy.

John,

Have you seen the Government's advert on licence requirements for employers of NON EUROPEAN immigrants? Ad at taxpayers expense.
How will the licencing be monitored and at what cost to taxpayers ?

Is the Government under licence to detain these people ? Will there be a licencing system monitoring unemployed illegal immigrants ? Government spent £17 b last year trying to cope with the problem.

How many user efficient prisons could have been built with the money ??
