Mother thrown out of jobcentre for bottle feeding her baby

Mother thrown out of jobcentre for bottle feeding her baby

A young mother looking for work was told to leave a jobcentre because she was bottle feeding her baby.

"Samantha Corbridge, 24, was thrown out of the Jobcentre Plus office after being told she was breaking the 'food and drink policy' by giving her daughter a bottle of milk".

I am aware of the no food and drink policy because I have seen the notices up at the Job Centre. Common sense tells me that it is meant to apply to adults and not children, particularly a baby crying because it is feeding time. It is all very well the DWP stating that claimants should come alone unless they need assistance, was she expected to leave the baby Home Alone?

Utter lunacy, yes John, it's that rigid, intellectually challenged, "rules is rules" mentality, "can't let you do that, it's more'n me jobswurf". God help the poor girl if she'd been breastfeeding. By the way, what the hell is a "job centre plus", didn't have those when I left the country, sounds exciting, I bet they get everyone back to work double quick in those!

Plus, if she was feeding the wee one she was not actively seeking work and could be docked.
