MPs claim utility bills on expenses whilst the rest of us heat or eat

MPs claim utility bills on expenses whilst the rest of us heat or eat

A couple of things captured my attention on the Andrew Marr show this morning. The first was when Ian Duncan Smith said that Labour was more interested in a row than in power. And the second was when a reviewer mentioned that as the poor were forced to choose between eat or heat, energy companies earned £1,000 per second. In this report it states that those of us who use Pre-paid Meters are more likely to pay an extra £140 per year. All I know is yesterday I put £20 on my gas card and when I put it in my PPM it registered £12.18 for gas once the company had clawed back money for debt and emergency credit! It is all very well Brown trying to come up with savings in the future rather than a windfall tax now, that's a bit like trying to revive the extinct Do-do when breathing life into it before it expired is what was needed.

The hidden costs nibbling away all the time. Crippling.

jailhouselawyer,

You have my sympathy. People in your situation are charged much higher rates.

John,

Immigrants know how to dodge paying anything - Polish guide book. Rent in a different name, live buckshee and no-one can ever catch you !

Others, like you, make up the losses.

John,

In Cherie Blair's book she ripped into Brown as Chancellor, living cost free batchelor life, for his lack of understanding of surviving in the real world. Clearly not the right bloke was he ?
