Rocky attacked in Pearson Park
Last night about 9 I took Rocky for walk in Pearson Park. About halfway around a dog charged at Rocky like a train hitting a car on a level crossing. I recall a man saying "Sorry mate", as he tried to get his two dogs under control. It wasn't until Rocky and I got home that I noticed him licking a wound on his left back leg at thigh level. Upon examination I detected a puncture which I estimated would need a couple of stitches. I don't know whether the hole was as a result of a fang tooth penetrating the skin, or whether it was caused by one of those collars which have spikes or studs protuding. In any event, I called the PDSA about 9.30 this morning and they said to bring Rocky straight in. I left him for treatment. I was told to call between 12 and 1, when I did they said he hadn't been done yet and to call back about 3.
Some of you may remember all the fuss from the Park Rangers and police claiming that Rocky is a dangerous dog...
Update: Rocky has been done, but I have to call back at 4.30 to see if he is fit enough to come home. That is, whether the anasthetic has worn off.
UPDATED UPDATE: I collected Rocky at 5pm. There are 4 stitches in the middle of a square bare patch on his leg. We walked home slowly as Rocky was still a bit groggy. It was the first time he has never greeted me following a parting. The vet also removed a growth from Rocky's tummy, which didn't bother him, or me, but has bothered others who thought he had some chewing gum stuck to him. Hopefully he will be back to his normal self tomorrow.
UPDATED UPDATED UPDATE: I took Rocky out for a walk about 10pm because he did not feel like it at 7pm. He is getting back to normal, tail wagging, etc, but still not drinking or eating.

I don't know that there's a greater worry for dog owners than this sort of thing. There's no prevention, there's no recourse afterwards and the behavioural after-effects on your own dog can be bad. As a fellow dog owner I fully sympathise, John. There are too many people out there with dogs they should never be alllowed to have. I wish the fella a speedy and complete recovery.
Here's hoping.
I hope Rocky is feeling better today.
