Give prisoners a vote. They couldn't be any worse at it than the rest of us
As hard as I try to summon a sense of moral indignation that the European Court of Human Rights wants to give prisoners the vote, I can't. The anger and indignation shown by MPs of all stripes over the extension of the franchise to jailbirds resembles the gurning of Caliban staring at his reflection. The political class in Britain has created a system whereby extra-territorial courts have supremacy over Parliament and individual rights can never be alienated no matter how far one strays from personal responsibility. Now prisoners will stand in judgment of them as part of the electorate. You reap what you sow.
