Gerry and Kate McCann called a press conference, to mark two months since Madeleine went missing, to announce that they were not yet ready to go back to work. This isn't news because they have been saying all along that they had no intention of returning to Britain. Their argument is that they are incapable of being doctors. However, oddly, they feel that they are capable of contributing a lot in Portugal to finding the missing Madeleine. I am puzzled. Gerry McCann said: "The important thing is to make as many people as possible aware of Madeleine. We want to remind people from time to time that we are still looking and Madeleine still has not been found". The media has already made as many people as possible aware of Madeleine. Job done. So, 3 months from now they will remind us that they are still looking and Madeleine still has not been found. And, 6 months from now. And, then 12 months from now. All they will be telling us is what we already know. We're not playing hide and seek. Why don't they tell us what we don't know? We know that the McCanns version of events does not hold up to scrutiny. We know that Gerry McCann has kept a tight control on the media information including those who were on holiday with them.
If the McCanns are really interested in finding Madeleine, why don't they tell us who last saw Madeleine other than the McCanns and when?

The names of the family members /friends who were on the holiday are important. Their accounts need to heard and cross referenced. It is likely that someone from that group killed Madeleine. I'm afraid that she is dead as a child that young can not go missing for two months and still be alive.

I think the skive off work comment is totally unnecessary. They are doing all they can to find Madeleine and wouldnt ANYONE do the same in their shoes?. They must be taking advice from people, no-one plans for this sort of thing to happen and they are clearly doing their absolute best. People's petty desire to scrutinise everything they are doing and find fault with it drives me mad. We should be compassionate and supportive. It MUST hurt them to read things like this, and I think all those responsible should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. There's something wrong with people who have to criticise and they should look at themselves before finding fault with the McCann family and friends.

If they were a working class family they would have no choice but to work for a living. They have rather conveniently got people to donate money to their flight from justice campaign.
I might start feeling sympathy for them when they come clean about what really happened. At the moment I am just fed up of their lies.
i am a mother of 3 my children are not as young as those who were left alone i am furious that they have done this
i feel nothing for the mcann parents but for the lil girl who has disappeared i think she has been the victim of gross neglect

Well, they really can't go back to work, can they? I mean, don't you think there are people in their work places who suspect a few things? Even if they didn't kill their little girl either by accident or design, would you really want a doctor looking after you who has been shown to be irresponsible, cruel and selfish to such an extent that their own daughter of 4 years could be on the brink of a life of living hell? If they are innocent, which I find hard to believe, then their very ignorance of Portugal alone would be enough to indicate them as very poor docs. I pray that there are intelligent police and that justice will be done.
G McCann's language has always been strange for a loving father of an 'abducted' toddler. I read the transcript from an interview, and I watched their body language on the Youtube interview-need more be said?

I saw that, and wondered where the cost of this trip to America is coming from? The Madeleine Fund? Nice work if you can get it.
Whatever the pair of them do on their world tour, they can never escape the fact that they were totally negligent in their care of their much wanted ivf children. How soon they forget how much they wanted a family that having a few bottles of wine every night became more important. They deserve every bit of criticism they receive. Just because they are Drs does not make their actions acceptable. If it had been Mr and Mrs factory worker or benefits families you can be sure the media would not be on their side.
They deserve no support. Did Madelaine receive any when the person who took her obviously made har last hours on earth full of pain, misery and suffering? If whoever took her wanted a child to bring up as their own they would have took the younger ones, so its obvious what she was taken for. What compassion was she show in her last few hours I wonder? All she wanted was the security of her mummy and daddy, but they were to busy opening the next bottle of wine. The pair of them are beyond contempt. Might the reluctance to come home be due to the fact that they realise what a welcome the British people will have for them? They know they have done wrong and no amount of trying to say otherwise will change that fact. The sooner they admit their neglect the better.

I am amazed how nobody here has mentioned that this whole thing could have been avoided if the parents were good parents and didn't leave there kids alone so that they can go out. What kind of parents would do this?? A four year old and two 2 year olds??? These people obviously are lacking in the brains department and should be held accountable.
I hope if they find this poor girl that they put her in a better home. The children are always the ones to suffer. very sad
What I want to know is why Doctors were staying at such a cheap holiday anyway.
Unfortunately people these days want to have their cake and eat it: they want children but they want to have the life they had before, ie socialising whenever and wherever they like. It's part of our selfish generation. We want to continue to live like a child ourselves but also have the luxury of having children too. We want everything. It's why people now put off having kids until they're in their thirties "when they are ready". Many people then find they can't conceive.
People talk about the McCann's neglect. Indeed I think it's terrible to leave your children unattended on holiday - in a hotel or apartment or otherwise. You're always told not to leave your valuables in the room in case of someone braking in and stealing them. Surely your child is more precious than your passport or wallet.
I've spoken to loads of intelligent, professional friends who have told me they don't think what the McCanns did in leaving the kids was wrong and that they themselves have left the children in the room whilst on holidays to go off and have a meal/drink. I was amazed - these were caring, loving people. However, I am sure they'd think it neglectful if they left their kids alone in the house to go to the pub down the road or to a neighbour's party down the street. What is the difference when you are on holiday - do you think you have the "right" to time off your kids as well? I am sure they will re-evaluate their actions in future. In other words, it's time to GROW UP and start taking on full adult responsibility (for some that means at the ripe old age of late thirties).
