Iain Dale cannot add up for tuppence
According to Iain Dale, the government is offering a sweetner, bribe, of £3,000 per day compensation for those released without charge. He says, that £3,000 per day for 42 days is £42,000. I am almost totally innumerate. But even I know £42,000 x 3 = £126,000!

It's £3000 a day for every day after 28 days up to 42 days John. So a max of 14 days at £3,000.
Tell you what, if I had been banged up for 28 days I would be begging and pleading to be locked up for the full 42days and get the £42,000.
Whatever, I can see problems with this because it is generally £90-100 per day for false imprisonment...

No I don't admit I got it wrong. Merely a concession that there may be an alternative interpretation.
"In his latest concession to backbench rebels Gordon Brown has said that anyone released after 28 days would get £3,000 a day compensation".
I read this to mean they would get £3,000 for each of the 28 days. I would expect a top political blogger with writing and editing skills could express himself more clearly...
